Attention anybody who is in PE 2nd period A day – Mrs. Torrence is postponing your gymnastics routines to Tuesday instead of today, as she will not be here this morning!

Date has been extended! All applications for the Geek Squad for the 19-20 school year are due to the office by next Tuesday, May 21st!

Chromebooks will be collected on Monday, May 20th.  Please make sure your Chromebook, charger, and case is all together.  All Chromebooks must be turned in to attend end of the year celebrations.  Fines will be issued for any lost Chromebooks or chargers.

FFA Members should sign up with Mrs. Hodges in the Ag. Shop for an item to bring to the celebration picnic.  All FFA members need to let Mrs. Hodges know by today if you are or are not attending.

If you are interested in running Cross Country next year there will be a meeting in Mrs. Fort's room on Monday, May 20th at 9:45.  Please have your form completed and turned in before you come to the meeting.  Forms can be found on Mrs. Fort's door on the 6th grade hall.

If you have purchased a yearbook for this year, please check in the office or in the gym to make sure your name is on the purchased yearbook list.  If you do not see your name and you think you already purchased one, please let Mr. Dodson know by today.

ACHS Volleyball Camp is coming soon! June 10-12 from 9-4 with Tom Houser and a staff of coaches, college players, and former college players will provide a great opportunity for you to improve your game!  This is open to all middle school, JV, and Varsity players.  Space is limited so register soon!  Forms can be picked up in the Main Office!

2019 4-H Camp Applications are available in the Main Office for those who are interested.

Open Gyms are open to any eligible middle school female student or rising 6th grade female student interested in learning the rules and techniques of the game of volleyball, along with conditioning and getting to play the game of volleyball.  VHSL physical is required.

When:  On Tuesday afternoons from 3:30 – 5:30 PM

Open Gym ends promptly at 5:30

Final day – May 21st

Where:  Appomattox Middle School Gym

All students will need written permission from a parent or guardian provided to their home room teacher to stay on the property for after school activities.

What to bring:  All students will need to be dressed for the activity with comfortable clothing for running and jumping and appropriate foot wear is a must, knee pads and water bottles are recommended.

VHSL Physical forms for the 2018-2019 school year that are on file at AMS will be checked for student eligibility.  Any student may obtain a VHSL physical form from the VHSL Website or you may get one from the AMS Main Office.  Any VHSL physical form dated after May 1st for the 2019-2020 school year will be valid.

AMS students and staff would like to recognize Nurse Pack on National School Nurses Day.  We appreciate how you care for all of us – adults and children.  We are blessed with the best school nurse ever!  We love you, Nurse Pack!!

CVLS will have a final practice today for Record Books.  Plan to ride the Activity Bus to ACHS for this practice.  CVLS members who are attending the carcass contest need to turn in their permission slips to Mr. McCann on Wednesday at practice.

Appomattox Middle School students and staff are proud to recognize Mrs. Stephanie Totty during National Assistant Principals Week.  Mrs. Totty spends countless hours  working behind the scenes to plan activities, help students, and work with teachers every single day.  Mrs. Totty is a lifelong Raider who loves AMS and it shows in everything she does.  We appreciate her love and support of all of us!!  We are blessed to call her our Assistant Principal!! Thank you for all you do, Mrs. Totty!!

There will be an FFA Officer Meeting today until 5:00 PM.

FFA CDE practice will be held Wednesday until 5:00 PM.  Please report at D bell.

CVLS will practice at ACHS Thursday until 5:30.  Please remember your note to ride the Activity Bus.

Reminder to all students in Art who are interested in the Field Trip!  Entry Forms for the Field Trip are due by the end of the day on Tuesday to Miss Henzi!  Students with winning entries will be given permission slips on Wednesday.

Spring Football begins this week.  All students planning on playing football in the fall are highly encouraged to attend these 15 Spring Work-out sessions.

Sessions will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Wear t-shirts, shorts, and tennis shoes.  Please bring your cleats (if you have them).

Teen Time in the Light will meet this Friday afternoon from 3:30 – 4:45.

NJHS officers and members – please remember to bring in your candy donations by April 12th.  You may give them to Mrs. Gilliam or Mrs. MacGregor.  Every member should donate at least one bag.

8th graders – Permission slips and money for the Kings Dominion field trip are due no later than Friday, April 12th.  We have filled up the first charter bus and have started a waiting list for the second bus.

Students who leave on Walker's bell at the front of the school, you must wait for the Crossing Guard to give you the okay to cross.  Do not cross the street on your own.  It is not safe to do so until she has given you the okay.

Happy Spring Break

7th Grade Ag. Students need to take their bean plants home today if you didn't do so yesterday, so you can take care of them over Spring Break.

Finalists that were announced yesterday for the 3 Point Shooting Competition and the Free Throw Shooting Competition need to report to the Gym at the beginning of Discovery today to start your competition.

Congratulations to our top fundraiser for American Heart Association – Damien Smith!  Damien raised $80!  Way to go Damien!  Thank you for taking your time to raise money for healthy hearts!

March is National Athletic Training Month.  At AMS, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for all the hours Ms. Simpkins dedicates to the care and well-being of all our student athletes.  She is their biggest fan, a constant support, and an angel of mercy on the field.  We are very blessed to have Ms. Simpkins taking such good care of us – all of us (big people too).  Happy National Athletic Training Month to our favorite athletic trainer, Ms. Simpkins!

We raised $163 on the 3 point and free throw shooting competitions alone!!  Thank you to all who participated and helped raise money for healthy hearts!

Just a reminder to Mrs. Coley's 2nd, 3rd, and 4th period math students, we will meet in the Stem Lab today.

AMS Girls Soccer will dismiss today at 3:00 and be ready to leave at 3:15 for your away game at Liberty Middle.  AMS Boys Soccer will dismiss on D bell today.
