The Lady Raiders are having a pizza fundraiser on Wednesday, May 24th at Mama T's (1952 Church St-(434)352-4444). Place an order anytime between 11:30am and 8:00pm and a percentage will go to the Raiders Girls Basketball program. Please come out and support Raiders Girls Basketball!! Thank you.


Juniors who are taking AP Government next year need to pick up a summer assignment and fill out the pick-up form in the office before they leave for the summer.


Any student taking AP U.S. History next year needs to see Mr. Servis about their summer assignment


Tryouts for the Varsity and JV Girls Volleyball teams will begin Monday July 31st at 8:30 am.  Players must have current VHSL Physical to participate. Any girl entering 8th grade thru 12th grade may tryout.  We also need managers and scorekeepers (boys or girls).  Anyone interested or if you have questions contact Coach Cardwell (434-841-7879) or Coach Drinkard.  Also still have one spot left for UNC Team Camp July 23rd – 25th.

The ACT will be given at ACHS on Saturday, June 10.  You must have an admission ticket and acceptable photo ID.  Bring #2 pencils and a calculator.  Doors will be unlocked at 7:30 am and will relock at 8:00 am.  You must enter at this time.  If you have any questions, stop by and see Mrs. Fahrman in room 210 or email at ​​


If you are interested in working this summer at Holliday Lake State Park as a concession worker or lifeguard please pick up an application in the main office.


CVCC will offer Summer Academies for High School students (ages 14-17) in the following areas:  Advanced Engineering, Automotive, Cosmetology, CSI, Culinary Masterchef.  Tuition is $140 for each camp.  Please see Ms. Valladao, Mrs. Richardson or Mrs. Hall for more information.


The Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship application is now open for students graduating with the class of 2018.  If you are a scholar-athlete and use your work ethic and passion to inspire others and give back to your community, then consider applying for this scholarship.  Please see Mrs. Richardson for more information.


​The Joint Science and Technology Institute for Students will select current high school students in the United States or in Department of Defense schools for dependent children. The purpose of the program is to expose students to scientific research through hands-on projects, to enable students to work with real-world scientists, and to increase students' interest and awareness of career opportunities in related fields.  To be eligible, high school students should be US citizens, age 15 by July 1, 2017, and plan to be enrolled in high school next year in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grades.  The program dates are July 22 – August 4, 2017.  Students must attend high school in the United States or at a DODEA school overseas. All expenses are paid for the students, including travel to and from the program location in Aberdeen, MD, even for students located outside the continental United States.  Please see Ms. Valladao, Mrs. Richardson or Mrs. Hall if you are interested in this opportunity.


JMU Space Explorers Camp (Residential)

This exciting camp for rising 8th through 10th graders will demonstrate that science is constantly changing, constantly uncovering new clues about why our universe is the way it is and not some other way. We will ask questions and then use the scientific method to try to answer them! We will investigate the size and scale of our solar system, learn about the robotic exploration of it, and learn about our own planet Earth and our fragile environment! The camp runs from July 23rd through July 29th  and the cost is $750.  For more information, visit


JMU Male Academy for Academic Achievement and Female Institute for Learning and Development The JMU Male Academy for Academic Achievement and Female Institute for Learning and Development are exciting two-week summer programs, which provide an opportunity for students, who will be rising 9th through 12th graders in the fall to live and learn on a college campus, as well as enrich their development academically and socially. This academic enrichment experience includes classes in Math, Writing, and History with passionate and dedicated instructors from across the country. Other sessions provided to enhance personal development include topics in the area of leadership skills, career development, diversity, recreation, community service, personal and social problem solving, and teambuilding.  The camp runs from July 9th through July 22nd.  The cost is $500.  For more information, visit


JMU Summer Honors Institute: The JMU Summer Honors Institute is a unique week-long program where talented rising high school juniors and seniors get a first-hand look at life in a dynamic university and its Honors college.  The institute runs from June 18th through June 24th.  The cost is $1000. ​We are adding a test date here at ACHS on August 26, 2017.  Be prepared to register online about one month prior to that date.










ACT Testing @ ACHS
The ACT test will be given @ACHS on Saturday, June 10.  The test will begin shortly after 8:00 am 
Arrive by 7:45 am.  The doors will be unlocked at 7:30 am and re-locked promptly by 8:00 am.  If you arrive after the doors are locked, you will not be allowed entrance.
You must present your admission ticket and a photo ID.  This can be a driver's license, a learner's permit, or a current swipe card with photo.  The ID MUST be an original and MUST have a recognizable picture.  Your first/last names must match the name presented on the admission ticket or you will be denied entrance.
​You may not enter the testing room with your cell phone.  Either leave it at home, in your vehicle, or check it in at the reception desk.
​You may bring snacks, but they must remain in the cafeteria during testing.
You may bring a calculator to use on the math portion of the test as long as it is on the approved list.
A few calculators will be made available to those without calculators.
Bring #2 pencils….not mechanical pencils.

Athletic Passes 2016-2017
The following athletic passes are offered for purchase this year.  Students must purchase a pass for $25 which will allow them entrance to all home athletic events.

·          Senior Citizen – Complimentary (62 and older)
